Card Magic = Stage Magic?

Wow...I can't sleep tonight. Lots of ideas bouncing around in my head. The last couple of months have sure kept me busy. I'm playing catch up. Here's a video from a recent show in front of 800 people in the Northwest. Hope all is well my friends.

Finally! Here you go everyone. This video was shot during a break from rehearsal. I teach the card trick that was posted in episode 5. It's a cute trick that can be very effective and doesn't take a lot of skill. This trick didn't make the cut for my instructional dvd....coming soon. =) Have fun...and get back to me if you have some great stories about performing this trick with your friends.

August Fun

Sorry for the delay on the next video everyone. I've had a lot of messages on my facebook asking about the secret to the card trick I performed back at the shop in Oregon. I've got a 3 day trip to the Northwest and we'll have some new video coming soon..including some cool card secrets.

It's been a very busy, very exhausting month. I just finished filing paperwork with Guinness notifying them I am considering attempting to break 2 more world records! Training has been taking up ALOT of time. More news coming soon. Have a good weekend!

Chillin at the Shop 1-5

Wow! Life is crazy right now! There just isn't enough hours in the day. I'm trying to stay focused on the show. We are developing a new prediction illusion that will be debuted in Mid August when I come up to Washington State for a big show. I'm also currently revamping my straitjacket performance...hmm...surprises await! Good times.

So here's a little video this week from Oregon State where I spent some time working with the fellas on the Fire Cage. We are really excited about its development. It's come a long way and we hope to debut it on National television some day soon. In the video I perform a cute little card trick that I will teach you all in my next entry.

Hope all is well!

Knoxville Tennessee 1-4

Check out my mop! Haha. Family reunion time! I just flew home from Knoxville Tennessee where my grandpa Bartley previously lived. That's his hair that I'm wearing in the photo. Unfortunately he passed away at the end of 2009. He was a big believer in my magic. He genuinely enjoyed my work even as a kid when I was really bad. I'm very thankful that he was able to see and hear about my growth in the art of magic including my world record. This year's reunion was difficult without him but it gave my family a great opportunity to re-connect and strengthen the family ties. There's so many great people in my family and I really enjoyed seeing everyone. This week's video is an impromptu performance at a chalet up in the hills of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. I pulled out the cards for the family and I found that even a family audience can have the occasional heckler. Little Brittany was not making my performance an easy one. She was challenging my every move and even called me a cheater. Haha...she gave me a lecture on why cheaters never win. I explained that as a magician I only cheat for good purposes. That wasn't acceptable to Brittany so I took a chance and let the magic take over...no cheating! ;)

Accepting My Guinness World Record Certification From Mayor Oscar Goodman 1-3

It's been a busy month! This last week I got to meet Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman! He presented me with my world record certificate. I performed a little bit of magic for him. He was very cool and genuinely amazed with the magic. We got some great photos of him. Keep an eye out for those on facebook. This week is a double feature. Here's the video footage documenting the visit.

I also had my personal camera there that day and caught a fun candid moment. The Mayor handed out poker chips with his face on them. It's tough to tell what happens cause it happens quick but I made the chip float up to my top hand. (For the magicians...not my best muscle pass by any means...haha...but effective in the moment.) Here's the video.

The coolest compliment the mayor gave me was when he offered his full endorsement on the stage production that we're discussing with some of the properties in Vegas right now. He said on two occasions that if he could serve as a reference he would absolutely be happy to help. Pretty cool. =)

Golfing for Charity with Olympic Medalist Dave Johnson 1-2

This past week I spent some time in the northwest. It was an amazing trip! 1992 Olympic bronze medalist, Dave Johnson, flew me up to Portland, Oregon to be part of a charity golf tournament. My job was to hang out with the tourney participants throughout the day and perform a 10 minute show after dinner. If you don't remember who Dave Johnson is just think back to the 1992 ads that asked, "Who's it gonna be? Dave or Dan?" Very popular commercials that aired before Dave's rockin bronze medal effort in the Decathlon...on a broken foot nonetheless! Unfortunately I didn't get a lot of video footage with Dave cause that night we were both busy with the presentation. The picture above shows me with Dave Johnson(middle) and Tim Bright(left). Tim is a national champion decathlete with 3 Olympic appearances. We are holding the Olympic torch that was used in the 1996 Atlanta games. It was pretty cool to be touching a piece of history. The show that night went great! The golf that day was a lot of fun too. They placed me on a team in a best ball scramble format. I pretty much embarrassed myself all day with my golfing skills but I did have an amazing hole at #4. It's a par 5 and I eagled it! Yeah buddy...a killer drive and fairway shot just off the green. I chipped it in from 15 feet out! I'm so bummed we didn't get that on tape! My team got 3rd place though! Check out this weeks video below where I perform magic for my teammates by turning a real deck of blue cards into a red deck of cards. Hope all is well!
